Planning
Perhaps your existing road is in disrepair, dangerous, or unsuitable for traffic. The planning phase seeks to identify and understand the exact requirements and impacts of the project. This includes understanding environmental impacts, soil and ground types, projected traffic levels, drainage, utilities, and safety considerations. We use all this information to design detailed site plans, Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS), dimensions and levels for drainage build-up, along with material quantities.
Pre-construction
Existing utilities or the installation of new utilities along or underneath the road require careful consideration during pre-construction. Materials will have been chosen during planning. Tarmac or asphalt are the most commonly used materials for roads and pavements. We will notify people who will be impacted by the project, including information about road closures and outages of electricity or water.
Construction
The road construction process can vary depending on the size of the project, the surrounding environment, and local regulations. However, most roads follow a similar step-by-step approach. The key stages of building a road usually include earthwork and excavation, installing drainage, surface dressing, traffic management systems, and landscaping. Some construction processes, such as excavation, paving, and finishing, are repeated in regular increments, possibly every 50 metres.
Post-construction
Once the project reaches final handover, responsibility for road maintenance and legal liability usually transfers from the contractor to the land-owner. From that point forward, they manage the maintenance, or employ a designated company such as Windser Road Services to take on the long-term maintenance and management of the roadway.
